Cozy holiday house De Druif with balcony

Holiday home ‘De Druif’ is located in a small bungalow park (De Skâns), next to the old stronghold of Oostmahorn. From the dike you can enjoy spectacular sights over the National Park Lauwersmeer. A beautiful beach is just a couple of hundreds of meters away and the North Sea coast is just a five minute drive. ‘De Druif’ is especially suitable for families with small children and couples. Dogs are not allowed.

On the ground floor, ‘De Druif’ has a spacious living room with an open kitchen and direct access to the grape-covered terrace. On the same floor there’s a bathroom, a separate toilet and a bedroom with a twin bed. Upstairs, there are two more bedrooms, one of them with a small balcony. Holiday home ‘De Druif’ has three bedrooms, 6 sleeps.

You can sit on the terrace in the shade of the grapevine and it’s allowed to grill in the garden but there’s no bbq-set available. Parking is possible in front of the house.

Wi-Fi and tv are available and baby cot and high chair are available on request.

Oostmahorn is an old stronghold at the at the western side of the Lauwerslake with a rich history, dating back to the sixteenth century. Nowadays it’s a very pleasant tourist destination at the National Park Lauwersmeer, hosting several holiday resorts.

The lake itself and the direct surroundings are a true paradise for nature lovers, fisherman, water sports enthusiasts, cyclists and hikers. Dogs are more than welcome here as well. There’s a special beach and a forest for them at Lauwersoog.

Within a couple of hundreds of meters there are several playgrounds for children. At the beach, in the small resort ‘De Skâns’ and in Esonstad - which is a holiday resort build as a replica of a typical old Frysian city. In Esonstad you’ll even find a bouncy castle and an indoor playing hall and one can play golf and foot golf here at the local Pitch & Putt area. Renting a bicycle or e-chopper is also possible here.

In Esonstad you can easily do your daily groceries (a bigger supermarkt is just a couple of kilometers away in Anjum) or find a restaurant, pizzeria or a snackbar.
Another three restaurants are even closer to your holiday house. Some of them offer spectacular lake views. Other good options to enjoy the local seafood cuisine are the sea harbor of Lauwersoog at the northern side of the lake, the old fishing village of Zoutkamp at the eastside of the lake or at Dokkum, the most northern fortified city of Friesland.

To discover the National Park from the waterside you could bring your own boat or surf gear but there are boats and sailing boats for rent as well at ‘Paviljoen La Barca’. If you’re more into cat sailing, try the local cat-club ‘Omaho’, next to the small marina.

A boat-tour, sailing trip to Dokkum, bird or seal expedition can be booked around the corner and a ferry to the beautiful island of Schiermonnikoog, with it’s many miles of sandy beaches, is leaving from Oostmahorn as well.

The Lauwerslake (Lauwersmeer in dutch) is truly loved by fishermen for its large bream, roach, pike, perch and eel. At the reception of Holland1 you can obtain a fishing permit.

Do you like to walk and do you want to relax? Then visit the fishing village of Paesens-Moddergat with its small museum and experience the Wadden Sea World Heritage with its largest unbroken system of intertidal sand and mud flats in the world. Hiking over the mudflats of the Wadden Sea certainly is one of the most memorable activities in the Netherlands. Guided tours can be booked here every day of the year.

Or just stay and enjoy yourself at your holiday house. Just don’t forget to look up at the universe on a clear night. With the title Dark Sky Park, Lauwersmeer National Park is one of the world’s darkest places. Here, you can truly experience nature in the dark!

    “Sehr schönes, gepflegtes und wirklich gut ausgestattetes Haus. Wir waren zu fünft plus Hund dort.
    Wir hatten nur wenig zu beanstanden: der Fernseher ging nicht- was nicht wirklich tragisch war. Im Badezimmer tropfte der Wasseranschluss.
    Für Hunde wäre es schöner, wenn der Garten eingezäunt wäre. Wir haben unseren Hund dann an einer sehr langen Leine draußen angebunden, wenn er lieber draußen als drinnen sein wollte.
    Sehr zu empfehlen ist das Restaurant De goude Stek , welches an in 5 Minuten erreichen kann.
    Wir können einen Aufenthalt in Haus Nr.182 wirklich weiter empfehlen.”

    “Sehr schönes und gepflegtes Haus, angemessen großer Garten mit ausreichend Platz, leider kein Zaun oder Begrenzung zum Nachbargrundstück. Die Küche hat alle Anforderungen erfüllt, der "Mini-Ofen" war zwar etwas klein, aber ansonsten alles tip-top.

    Sollte noch angemerkt werden, dass es kein "Doppelbett" gibt, sondern dass es sich lediglich um 2 zusammengeschobene Einzelbetten handelt. Das Haus an sich ist etwas hellhörig, aber das ist ja zu erwarten. Der Vermieter ist sehr freundlich und entspannt, Schlüsselübergabe etc war total easy und es gab keine Probleme. Alles in allem sehr zufrieden!”

    “Das Haus liegt in guter Lage. Allerdings war uns die Ausstattung nicht ausreichend. Bei einem Haus für 4-6 Personen sollten zumindest ausreichend Gläser vorhanden sein. Auch dass es keinen Backofen gibt hat uns missfallen. Leider war das Haus auch nicht so sauber, wie wir es uns gewünscht hätten.
